Apollo Bay

Apollo Bay

There’s simply nothing like a convoy down one of the best driving roads in the world. That’s where we found ourselves as the AE group negotiated bend after bend, absorbed in road ahead, the tightening corners and in tune with the moment.

As we rolled through the quaint seaside towns along the Great Ocean Road, members returned from the sensation overload and appreciated the natural beauty that South Western Victoria has to offer.

Stopping at the local pub in Apollo Bay, we enjoyed a meal and many laughs, heading back to Melbourne through the Victorian countryside.

A late notice cruise meant a small turnout, but as some say “It’s not the size that matters”.

The limited attendees allowed for a great opportunity to get to know each other and develop relationships before carving through the freshly paved roads of the Dandenong ranges.

With RB26’s echoing through the mountains, the V8 rumbling away and the four cylinders with distinctly different turbo flutters loud enough to wake your grandpa sleeping, a true symphony of sounds and an auditory experience were had.

Heading through the backcountry on the return, owners thoroughly enjoyed spirited driving and an opportunity to drive with new friends.

This first cruise was unofficial and one of the motivators for the expansion of Absolute Enthusiasts. A bunch of friends getting together to do what they love best, driving.

The Great Ocean Road, Lavers Hill, Otway Ranges, Beech Forest and many more locations were experienced. Driving continued until someone said after a quick toilet break, “geez guys, it’s gonna take us four hours to get back”.

We turned around and experienced all the fun once again.
