We have been in the Automotive Club business since 2019, allowing us to develop and streamline processes to simplify applications.
We have amassed a large following and hold frequent optional events that foster a vibrant, welcoming community.
This club isn’t our everyday work and is operated as a passion project with a focus on continual development. Additionally, we support HeadSpace Australia by donating funds at the end of each financial year.
Absolute Society was formerly known as Absolute Enthusiasts. Expanding to Absolute Society in 2024, we restructured with a focus on fostering inclusive community events, whilst ensuring efficiency and a drive to maintain the highest standards of service possible.
We are an all-inclusive club focused on building community through a diverse range of vehicles. We accept any vehicle that complies with the CPS VicRoads regulations and actively promote a variety of all makes and models.
All vehicles must be over 25 years of age at the time of the application and meet the modification standards by VicRoads. Please see eligibility requirements for more information.
We provide club permits for heavily modified vehicles that comply with VicRoads regulations and hold the necessary certification, such as a VASS certificate. Once approved, the vehicle is registered as a licensed modified vehicle and issued a number plate including an ‘M’ (for Modified), rather than an ‘H’ plate (for Historic).
There is no difference! Club Registration and Club Permits refer to the same thing. The term "Club Permit" is used by VicRoads, but essentially, both terms describe the same process and requirements for registering your vehicle under a club scheme.
To facilitate a transfer, we will provide you with a transfer PDF file highlighting the requirements. In short, we provide you with documentation that you must take to VicRoads.
We charge an administration fee but do not charge for your membership until the 1st of July. Your plates stay the same as does your VicRoads renewal date.
When your Club Permit application has been approved at VicRoads:
- Attach the Club Permit certificate sticker to the inside cover of your logbook.
- Attach the windscreen label to the vehicle to assist in identifying vehicles operating with a current permit.
- Affix the allocated Club Permit number plates to your vehicle and provide a photo to Absolute Society via email.
- Follow the conditions of use for Club Permit vehicles.
When you receive your club plates, it is essential to send us a photo of your car with the plates properly attached. This step is crucial to completing the final stage of registration. It also ensures that if we undergo an audit and are required to prove that the plates are on your vehicle, we can do so effectively.
Failure to provide this evidence may result in VicRoads cancelling your registration.
Our fees reflect administration fees and membership tiers with various benefits, chosen by customers.

No, paying stamp duty does not apply to CPS vehicles during the transfer of ownership.
Usually, yes. Many of our members have reported significant savings on insurance premiums, due to the reduced accident risk associated with the limited days of driving under Club Registration. As such, many insurers have separate policies for Club Permit vehicles.
There are three styles of club plates, standard size, slimline sized and a mix of both.
A certificate of roadworthiness (RWC) is required for all club permit vehicles manufactured on or after 1 January 1949, except street rod vehicles, light trailers and plant based special purpose vehicles (e.g. tractor).
It is optional for vehicles manufactured on or before 31 December 1948 to get a certificate of roadworthiness. The club scrutineer/official may inspect and declare the vehicle to be safe to use on the road.
If the new owner is a member of Absolute Society, the plates will be reissued to the same vehicle.
The new owner will need to submit the required Vehicle Eligibility Standards Declaration (VESD), Club Permit Agreement (CPA) and Certificate of Roadworthiness (RWC) to VicRoads.
No, any driver that could drive the vehicle under normal registration can drive the vehicle.
We do not have mandatory or compulsory requirements to maintain membership. Events held are completely optional.
The logbook is required to be filled before each drive and requires the club permit sticker placed in the front page. The logbook has four sections to be filled each time the vehicle is used:
- The date of the drive
- The reason of the drive (we recommend writing ‘cruising’)
- Your name.
- Your signature
Club Permit vehicles may be driven throughout all states and territories provided that the vehicle complies with Victorian requirements for the holding of the Club Permit.
On the 1st of July each year, your membership will require renewal to maintain use of yoru Club Permit/Club Plates.
When you receive your new club permit package in the mail, you will receive a new logbook, a new windscreen sticker and a new Club Permit sticker (to be placed in your logbook). When payment is received, we will send your Club Endorsement renewal form for the year (please keep it saved for your renewal date).
To process your renewal:
- Make the yearly membership payment to AS on 01/07 each year.
- We will send you a Club Renewal Endorsement form after payment.
- Upload the Renewal Endorsement form to your myVicRoads portal.
- Sign and place your new Club Permit in your new logbook.
- Upload a scan/photo of your Club Permit in the logbook on the portal.
- Complete the VicRoads registration process on the portal.
The cost of membership for Tier One is $100 per year. Payment is required on a pro-rata basis.
The pro-rata calculation for the initial joining fee is broken into quarters for Tier One membership (1 vehicle on a club permit):
- July, August & September: $100
- October, November & December: $75
- January, February & March: $50
- April, May & June: $100 for the next financial year's membership, with the last 3 months of the current financial year included at no additional cost.
Additionally, there is a one-time $89 administration and scrutineering fee for each vehicle put on the Club Permit Scheme (CPS).
For example, if you join in January the fees would be $50 for membership and $50 for scrutineering, totaling $100. In May or June, you would receive an emailed invoice for the next financial year's fees, totalling $100 for renewal. The fee of $100 would be paid prior to July each year to maintain membership.
